HAMILTON, N.Y. - Merrimack used a
Carlton Thai 47-yard field goal to force overtime, but a Colgate field goal gave the Raiders a 23-20 victory on Saturday.
The Warriors racked up 403 total yards of offense on the day, and took a 17-10 lead on
Ayden Pereira's 16-yard touchdown run with 8:02 to play in the third quarter. Colgate came back to take a 20-17 lead with 9:45 left, setting up Merrimack's game-tying drive.
Pereira led the Warriors on an 8-play, 60-yard drive in 41 seconds, to set up Thai's 47-yard boot with 6 seconds left.
Brendon Wyatt rushed for a 21-yard touchdown in the second quarter to put Merrimack up 7-3. Thai also connected on a 27-yard field goal to tie the game at 10-10 with 1:56 left in the first half.
Merrimack's
Galamama Mulbah rushed seven times for 71 yards.
Seth Sweitzer had 6 catches for 68 yards and
Austin Palmer had 5 catches for 64 yards
Kendal Sims led the Warrior defense with 8 tackles and
Dwayne Green Jr. had 6 tackles, including 2 tackles for a loss and one sack.
Jabari Echols intercepted a pass for Merrimack.
The Warriors remain on the road next Saturday, playing at New Haven at 3:30 p.m.
