Warriors Net a Pair of Powerplay Goals at Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI —  Justin Gill and Nick Pierre both scored on the powerplay as the Merrimack College Warriors took on the Providence College Friars on Friday night.

Merrimack: 2, Providence: 4

After killing off an early penalty, Merrimack would strike first as Gill scored his third goal in as many games to go ahead in the contest. Providence tied the score with a powerplay goal of their own to send the game all squared up into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period, Nick Pierre put the Warriors back in front with the team's second powerplay goal of the night and their fourth such goal in two games. The Friars however leveled things up  just past the midway point of the third, and took the lead for good in the final six minutes, then added an empty netter.

UP NEXT:
The Warriors finish the Lawler doubleheader tomorrow as they face Providence tomorrow at 6 PM.
