North Andover, MA – The Merrimack Women's Hockey team closed the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in style as they took a 4-1 win over the Assumption University Greyhounds on Sunday afternoon at Lawler Arena.
Assumption would open the scoring at 14:55 of the first period, but Merrimack's Maria Lindberg picked off an errant pass and scored on the abbreviated breakaway to tie the score 1-1 with her second goal of the season at 18:29. Just off the ensuing faceoff, Olivia Grabianowski put the Warriors ahead as #13 scored 13 seconds after Lindberg's strike, her second of the year as well.
After a scoreless second period, the Warriors added an insurance on the powerplay when Hailey Eikos scored on a shot from the low circle. Neely Hawn put the icing on the cake, firing home a rebound moments later. Both Avery Anderson and Emma Pfeffer assisted on each goal in the third period as well.
The Warriors begin their final series of the calendar year next Friday as they head on the road to face Providence College at 6 PM.
