Providence, RI—The Merrimack Women's Hockey team picked up their first Hockey East point, this evening as they pushed the Providence College Friars to overtime in a 3-2 loss on Friday night.
Playing in their new blue jersey's, the Warriors got off to a fast start as
Jordan Nishi was left wide open at the hashmarks and scored her first Merrimack goal only three and a half minutes to the contest. Providence however would tie the score in the final minute.
Providence would score the lone goal of the second period, but Merrimack would get the game back on level terms midway through the third period as
McKenzie Cerrato scored off the faceoff, and the game would remain level into overtime.
In the overtime, Providence would snag the extra point scoring on a rebound shot.
Three separate Warriors had multi-point games as
Cameron Crawford had two assists, both primary's,
McKenzie Cerrato had an assist on the opening goal before scoring herself and the same when for
Jordan Nishi.
Adreanna Doucette made 37 saves, her sixth time this season making 30 saves or more in a game.
UP NEXT: The Warriors close their 2025 slate of games tomorrow at 2 PM when they host a return matchup with Providence College on Teddy Bear Toss night.
