ORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack Men's Ice Hockey Team scored four times and battled to the final whistle in their second game of the weekend against Boston University on Saturday night in front of a sold out Lawler Arena.
Merrimack: 4, #12/13 Boston University: 5
After a scoreless first period, Boston University struck for three goals in the second. Merrimack would get on the board at the halfway point of the period as
Justin Gill snapped home his second goal in two games on the man advantage and then
Hunter Mayo lasered home a slapshot from the point in the final ten seconds for his first Merrimack goal, again on the powerplay to cut the lead to one.
In the third period, the Terriers scored their fourth in the final four minutes and added an empty netter but the Warriors refused to quit as
Ty Daneault was the recipient of a bad pass from a BU defender, scoring to make the deficit two goals, and he would drive to the net just seconds after the ensuing faceoff, forcing the save for
Benny Yurchuk to pot the rebound. The Warriors got one final chance to tie the scoring in the waning seconds but their final shot was stopped allowing the Terriers to hold on for the win.
UP NEXT: The Warriors head on the road to face off with Providence College next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
