Molly Manion hit a 3-point buzzer beater with 2.2 seconds left on the clock to give the Warriors a 59-57 win over the Dartmouth Big Green.
Sophomore
Mia Fiore hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 6 seconds left to put Merrimack up 56-55, but Dartmouth took a 57-56 lead with 2.2 seconds left. After a timeout, Fiore inbounded a perfect pass to Manion in the corner, and the grad student drained the game winning three as time expired.
"Our senior just knew to stay in the moment and be ready to let it fly if the ball found her," Merrimack head coach Kelly Marrone said. "That's a high pressure shot met with lots of confidence by Manion. Overall we played a lot of different players and had to keep finding ways to stay in it and put ourselves in a position to close out on the road. That's just a great team win."
Manion scored 13 points, shooting 5-for-7 (.714) from the field and nailed 3-of-4 3-pointers, all coming in the second half. The West Chester native added three rebounds and a steal to go with her game winning trifecta.
Fiore led the Warriors with 16 points, extending her double-figure scoring streak to six games. The guard came down with five rebounds and tallied three assists and a team leading two steals.
Grad student
Oralye Kiefer posted 11 points on the night shooting 5-11 (.455) from the field. The forward out of Wayland, Mass. came down with four boards and added on a steal and block.
The Warriors are back in the Granite State for a matchup on Friday against the New Hampshire Wildcats. Tip off from Durham is at 11 a.m.
