Da Costa '17 Named To 2026 France Olympic Hockey Team

Paris, France-- Former Merrimack forward and an inductee into the 2024 Merrimack Hall of Fame, Stephane Da Costa '17 was named to the 2026 Team France Olympic Hockey team on Tuesday afternoon.

Da Costa who recorded 30 goals and 60 assists for total of 90 points in 67 games in his career with the Warriors, was named NCAA rookie of the year in 2009-10, along with back to back seasons named as a Hockey East All-Star and he was named as an All-American in 2010-11 as the Warriors reached #1 status in the college hockey polls as well as reaching the Hockey East Final and NCAA Tournament in 2010-11.

Da Costa is currently playing in the KHL for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg where he has 26 points in 28 games. In Olympic qualifying, Da Costa scored three times and had five points in three games including an assist on the game winning goal to get France to the tournament, their first since 2002.

Da Costa joins Karl Stollery, who represented Team Canada in 2018 Winter Olympics as the second former Merrimack College student-athlete to be named an Olympian in men's hockey. 

The Olympics men's ice hockey tournament will be held from February 12th to the 22nd at the Milano Santagiulia or the Rho Ice Hockey Arena in Milano.
