GREENSBORO, NC- The Merrimack College softball team began the 2025 season by making their return to Greensboro, NC for the Spiro Classic. They took on the UNCG Spartans in the first game of the tournament on the afternoon of February 13th. The Warriors lost by a score of 3-0.

How it HappenedÂ
The Warriors would get the bats going in the top of the 1st with Eva Issitt 's first collegiate hit and some added offense from Ellen Hubbard. Cecelia Imbimbo would keep the Warriors in the game with her fantastic pitching, getting 11 straight batters out. Despite giving up a home run in the bottom of the 4th, she left two runners on base to end the Spartan's hitting streak. She would accomplish the same thing in the bottom of the 5th, getting a big strikeout and leaving two more UNCG runners on base. Emma Prahin would come in relief and record her first collegiate strikeout with ducks on the pond. She would record two more outs in the bottom of the 6th to get out of the jam. In the top of the 7th, the Warriors would try to string together a comeback, as Thiana Brito recorded a single with two outs. However, the Warrior's comeback was cut short and they lost 3-0.

The Merrimack College softball team continues their run in the UNCG Tournament with a doubleheader tomorrow, February 14th. The first game is against Toledo at 3PM and the second game is a rematch with UNCG at 5:30PM.Â
