KINGSTON, R.I. – The Merrimack College women's lacrosse team lost a close match up to the University of Rhode Island 11-10.

The Warriors opened the scoring in the first minute and a half of play with a goal from
Lindsay Atkinson. The Rams were quick to respond, netting their first of the afternoon.
Brooke Brennan would score a woman-up goal less than a minute later to retake the lead. URI added three straight goals to take a 4-2 advantage to close out the quarter. The Rams would ride this momentum into the second quarter, scoring on a free position attempt.
Hailey Schnider netted one to break a URI burst, cutting the deficit to 2. The Rams scored once more however,
Lindsay Atkinson scored off a turnover caused by
Mia Juvelier to stay within striking distance.
The Warriors kicked it into high gear in the third quarter, scoring five unanswered goals. At the eleven-minute mark,
Lindsay Atkinson scored her third goal of the afternoon, sealing the hat trick.
Kaitlin Roche netted one between the pipes to tie the score at six. A free position attempt by
Hailey Schnider was successful, putting the Warriors up one.
Allison Lamphere netted her first goal of the season to make it 8-6.
Dylan Lee rounded out third quarter action with a goal off a successful draw control to put the Warriors up 3.
Lindsay Atkinson would open the fourth quarter with a woman-up goal, her 10
th of the season. URI would respond with a woman-up goal of their own. The Rams scored two more times, one being off a free position attempt to make it a one-point game. Both teams remained competitive on the defensive front as there would be no scoring for almost nine minutes. URI finally broke the scoring drought, netting back-to back goals to win the game 11-10.
