NIAGARA FALLS, NY. – The Merrimack College women's basketball team secured a much needed win at Niagara on Thursday night.

Merrimack came into their weekend road trip to western New York looking to get back on track. The first quarter was a defensive battle with each team forcing turnovers on one another. The Warriors went into the break up by four points, 13-9 after a long full court feed from
Molly Manion to
Mia Fiore. In the second quarter, Merrimack settled in offensively and extended their lead slightly going into the half up 29-23 behind some stellar play on both ends by
Thalia Shepard who scored 10 points and added two steals.
The third quarter was a tough one offensively for Merrimack as the Purple Eagles' pressure heightened. The Warriors stood their ground defensively, as they continued their fantastic play. They let Niagara score just 10 points in the frame to go into the fourth up 39-33. In the fourth the offense was the star of the show as each team awakened in the first few minutes. For the first five minutes the two teams traded baskets but it was eventually Merrimack pulling away. A trio of threes from
Molly Manion,
Rose Caso and
Lydia Melaschenko sealed the win down the stretch for Merrimack. The Warriors snap their losing streak with the 66-52 win over Niagara.

- Paloma Garcia was one rebound shy of a double-double as she scored 11 points and added five assists
- Merrimack had 25 points off the bench led by 11 points from Lydia Melaschenko
