Softball Swept by Brown in Saturday Doubleheader

PROVIDENCE, RI- The Merrimack College softball team lost both games to the Brown University Bears in a doubleheader on March 1st.
 

Game 1 Score:  Brown 8, Merrimack 3

Game 2 Score:  Brown 6, Merrimack 0

Records: Brown 6-2, Merrimack 0-5

 

Game 1 Recap

Ellen Hubbard would get the blue and gold rolling in the top of the 1st with a double to left field. Thiana Brito would add some offense with a single to left in the 2nd inning. Cecelia Imbimbo would keep the Bears at bay in the circle by striking them out and getting key outs. The first run for the Warriors would come via a home run from Gabby Kaduson in the top of the 4th. The blue and gold would get ducks on the pond in the 5th inning as they got walked twice with Eva Issitt providing a base hit. Alex Miller would get a single in the top of the 7th to try to get some last minute offense going, and it proved to be successful. The bases were loaded for Ellen Hubbard and she came through with a fielder's choice, scoring the Warrior's second run. Emma Prahin would follow up with her own fielder's choice RBI to give the blue and gold run number three. The Warriors made a great offensive pursuit in the last inning, but they ended up losing game 1 by a score of 8-3. 

 

Game 2 Recap

McKayla Kortes would get the Warriors started in the top of the 1st with a double in the left field gap. Sam Russalesi would also add some offense in the 2nd inning with a single. Ellen Hubbard would get on base in the 4th inning with a base hit to left field. Sam Russalesi would continue her on-base streak as she also reached 1st base on a fielder's choice. Hannah Scarano would continue the Warrior's offensive pursuit in the 5th inning with a single up the middle. Eva Issitt would cause chaos on the basepaths as she singled to start the 6th inning and then proceeded to steal second. Sam Russalesi would come up again in the 7th inning and get another base hit to string together another late push. The Warrior's out-hit the Bears, but ended up losing game 2 by a score of 6-0.
