Etumnu Earns MAAC Defensive Player of the Year; Clark Named to First Team

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. –The Merrimack College men's basketball team earned two postseason awards as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Bryan Etumnu earned the conferences Defensive Player of the Year award, now making it three straight years a Merrimack player has been given the honor. Jordan Minor and Jordan Derkack were the other two recipients of the award while the Warriors were in the Northeast Conference. Adam "Budd" Clark was added to the All-MAAC First Team. He was the lone Merrimack player to have a All-MAAC selection.     

Bryan Etumnu – Defensive Player of the Year
The Sugar Land, Texas native has been a force in the paint all season long for the Warriors. Etumnu led the MAAC in blocks with 69 on the season. He also led the conference in blocks per game with 2.3. The big man from Texas tied his career-high three different times with six blocks. He ranked in the top 15 nationally in blocks through 30 games this season. In addition to his great play on the defensive side of the ball, Etumnu also came on strong offensively this season. He averaged a career-high 8.5 points per game. The Texas native also averaged six rebounds per contest.  
 
Adam "Budd" Clark – First Team All-MAAC
The Philadelphia, Pa. native led the conference in scoring after averaging 20.2 points per game. He scored in double figures all but one game so far this season. Clark had a career-high 32 points in a win against Niagara in February Nationally he ranked 13th in points per game. The Philly guard also led the conference in steals with 85 and steals per game with 2.7 per contest. The 85 steals were 15 better than the next best player in the MAAC. Nationally, Clark was fifth in total takeaways and takeaways per game. Clark had 181 assists which was good enough for second best in the MAAC. He also averaged 5.8 assists per game with was good enough for third in conference. He ranked in the top 30 nationally in both categories.   
 
The Warriors head down to Atlantic City for the MAAC conference tournament on Wednesday. They await the winner of #10 Fairfield vs. #7 Sacred Heart. Game time is set for 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
