How it Happened
- The first game of this series was all about the pitching from the Warriors ace, Andrew Heffernan. The sophomore had quite the outing. In his fifth start of the season he was beyond productive, pitching 8.1 innings and striking out six batters. He gave up just three hits and one run in that span. He got all sorts of help from the offense as well as they scored eight runs in the win.
- Game two was a much different story from the first. The Warriors did score the first run of the game off of a George Athanasiadis RBI single. From that point on it was all Griffs with Canisius scoring the next 11 runs to even up the series at one a piece.
- The winner of the series came down to who could take care of business in game three. Merrimack scored three runs in the second inning, two of which came off of a Harry Painter homerun. The Golden Griffins scored the next four runs and held the slim advantage heading into the sixth inning. Logan Castellano drove in the game tying RBI in the bottom of the sixth and it led into an explosive seventh inning. The frame started with a Brooks Craigue single to drive in a run. After that it was back-to-back-to-back homeruns for the Warriors coming from Matt DeShiro, Cavan Brady and Frankie Ferrentino which blew the game wide open at 9-4. Merrimack ended up with the 9-5 win to secure the series victory.
