Rapid Recap
Merrimack came out of the gates strong in this one scoring the first three goals of the game. It started with
John Savino followed by goals from
Brendan Harty and
Rob Tyra. All three of the goals occurred within the first five minutes of the game. The Crusaders finally scored late in the first quarter before
Casey Herod matched it with a goal of his own. The Warriors held a 4-1 lead but it was then Holy Cross netting eight of the next ten goals stretching into the start of the second half. At that point, the Crusaders maintained a 9-6 advantage. Merrimack then proceeded to score four straight to regain their lead to begin the fourth quarter. Holy Cross put one in with just over nine minutes left to tie it up at nine a piece. Neither team was able to break the tie in regulation even with some fantastic opportunities. In overtime,
Daniel Bezrutchenko won the opening faceoff and proceeded to sprint his way in to a potential game winning shot. The shot went wide but possession was retained by the Warriors. About 30 seconds later,
Brian Bouwman had the ball in his stick and the senior leader made magic happen. He wrapped around the cage and netted the game winner to send Merrimack into the night victorious for their first win of the 2025 season.
