Men's Hockey Drops Home Regular Season Finale Against Northeastern

North Andover, MA-- The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team were defeated in their final regular season home game against the Northeastern Huskies by a score of 2-1 at Lawler Arena on Thursday night.

Merrimack (13-18-1, 9-13-1): 1, Northeastern (12-18-3, 7-13-3 HEA): 2

In the first, Merrimack would go behind as Northeastern would cash in on their first powerplay of the night, scoring at 7:27 of the period and they would hold that lead into the intermission.

In the second, Merrimack would take command as they would out-shoot the Huskies 14-8 but were unable to find an equalizer as the game headed to the third.

The Huskies would add their second goal of the night on the powerplay again scoring just past the middle way point of the third. With five minutes to go, the Warriors pulled their goaltender, looking for the first of two goals to even the contest, and Merrimack would score to cut the lead to one with the net empty, and they would get a chance to play two men up with a powerplay in the final minute but they were unable to send the game to overtime which would have clinched a home playoff game on Wednesday.

UP NEXT: The Warriors have a night off before heading to Chestnut Hill to take on Boston College at 1 PM on Saturday in their regular season finale.
