How it Happened
- The first game of the series was a low scoring affair. The Merrimack bats came to play early on with a three run second inning to snag a lead. Marist responded with four runs to grab the lead back and never relinquished it. The Warriors totaled just four hits in the eventual 6-4 loss to start the series against the Red Foxes.
- James Nichols started the second game on the mound for Merrimack. The Roger Williams transfer was great for the Warriors pitching six innings giving up just three runs. Merrimack provided all the insurance needed for Nichols and the pitching staff scoring 10 runs through the first six innings, headlined by a five run fifth inning. The Warriors went on to win game two, 10-5.
- The rubber match occurred on Sunday with Luke Linnehan starting on the bump for Merrimack. The first four innings were slow for the bats on both sides. It was tied 2-2 going into the fifth inning and a wild pitch followed by Logan Castellano stealing home scored two runs without a hit for the Warriors. Marist did cross the plate twice to combat the two runs from Merrimack before the teams once again traded runs in the sixth. The score was 8-7 in favor of the blue and gold going into the ninth. The Warriors proceeded to tack on five runs to take a commanding 13-7 lead in which Cole Yennaco was able to close out in the bottom half.
