WORCESTER, Mass. – The Merrimack College baseball team escaped Fitton Field with a midweek win over Holy Cross on Tuesday evening.
The Basics
Score: Merrimack 4 | Holy Cross 2
Records: Merrimack (9-18-1) | Holy Cross (13-16)
How it Happened
Luke Linnehan began the game on the bump for the Warriors. He was excellent for Merrimack pitching 4.1 innings giving up a pair of runs while striking out two. The Warriors bats we're quiet throughout but a
Cavan Brady single scored two runs in the fifth to take a lead before the Crusaders got one back to tie it up going into the sixth. It was not until the eighth inning when
Brooks Craigue drove in the eventual winning runs on a single into center field.
Cole Yennaco came in late for the Warriors and got them out of a jam to end the eighth on a double play. He was given the green light to close it out in the ninth and ended it just like he did in the inning prior, by getting the Crusader batter to hit into a game ending double play.
