Baseball Falls to Maine Despite Monstrous Performance From Painter

ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College baseball team narrowly lost a midweek game to the University of Maine despite a hitting clinic put on by Harry Painter.

The Basics
Score: Merrimack 5 | Maine 7
Records: Merrimack (9-19-1) | Maine (8-19)

How it Happened
The Warriors had a quick turnaround after a late-night win in Worcester yesterday evening. They welcomed in Maine with James Borsari on the bump. The righty struggled as he gave up three runs in his lone inning of work before a parade of Merrimack pitchers entered the game. Colby Barker was next up and he lasted three innings striking out a pair and giving up two earned. While he was in the Warriors struck for the first of their five runs off of a Harry Painter solo bomb. In the fourth three more runs came across as Painter and Cavan Brady drove them in. The score stayed at 5-4 until the eighth inning when Maine added two more to take a 7-4 lead. Merrimack left two runners on in the eighth but it looked promising in the ninth when Harry Painter continued his dominance with his second homerun. Unfortunately, he was the lone Warrior with a hit in the inning as Merrimack lost 7-5.
