BROOKLYN, NY- The Merrimack men's volleyball team out swam the Long Island University Sharks and won 3-1 on the evening of April 11th.

How it Happened
The Warriors kept pace with the Sharks in the first set. Kai Vogel and Logan Whitaker kept the Warriors in the game with a slew of kills. Kai Vogel also had a number of service aces that ended up benefiting Merrimack. LIU would have a slight advantage at the end of set 1, but the Warriors came back to win the frame. Kai Vogel got the last kill in the set to give the Warriors the first round victory, 25-23.
The Warriors lost set 2, but had success in set 3. They found momentum and didn't look back. Nick Tidik helped get the blue and gold going with a kill and a shared block right out of the gate. Logan Whitaker and Isaiah Vogel provided some insurance with kills of their own in the early part of the set. Ephraim Abhulime joined in with consecutive kills to put Merrimack up by a pretty sizable amount. Blake Taschner kept the fun rolling with a block, an assist, and a service ace all in a row. Logan Whitaker went on a streak of 3 service aces in a row at the end of the set which helped Merrimack solitary their lead. It would be a clutch block at the end of the set that was shared by Isaiah Vogel, Ephraim Abhulime, and Blake Taschner that gave Merrimack the set victory, 25-12.
Kasen Owens started off the fourth set with a kill for Merrimack. Kai Vogel went on a tear and got three points in a row with a kill and two service aces. Nick Tidik also went on a streak with a kill and a block in back-to-back points. Kai Vogel and Nick Tidik kept their foots on the gas and provided a slew of points for the Warriors including a large number of kills. Logan Whitaker and Kasen Owens also contributed some kills towards the end of the set, keeping the Warriors in the set. It was a tight match all the way through, but the Warriors were able to pull out the victory at the end. Kai Vogel had the last kill at the end of the 4th set to give Merrimack a 3-1 victory on the road.
