How it Happened
  • The first two games were played as part of a Friday doubleheader. Flynn Howard started on the bump for Merrimack. He was great going five innings giving up just two runs before being replaced by Samuel Franco. In the sixth inning, the Warriors scored a trio of runs off of back to back mistakes from the Bobcats to regain the lead at 4-2. That led into a five run seventh inning from Quinnipiac to push the advantage in to the home teams favor in which Merrimack was unable to get back. Even after a Cavan Brady solo homer in the eighth, it was not enough to mount the comeback.
  • Game two saw that ace on the mound with Andrew Heffernan pitching for Merrimack. Two runs came in early for the Bobcats but a three-run shot from Christian Scanlon brought the Warriors ahead in the fourth. Heffernan continued to dice on the mound striking out six and gave up just two earned in is eight innings of work. However, the game was knotted up after nine innings and they would head into extras. Cole Yennaco pitched the Warriors out of a jam in the tenth but was unable to do so in the 11th as Quinnipiac walked it off to claim a game two win.
  • Merrimack struck first in the third game, looking to avoid the sweep. A Jayden Hamilton single scored Harry Painter to go up 1-0 in the second inning. Quinnipiac scored twice in the third but a three-run homerun from Hayden Bond put the lead back in the Warriors hands at 4-2. Unfortunately, that was all the scoring in the tank for Merrimack and the Bobcats proceeded to tack on the final six runs of the game to complete the sweep.
