POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Merrimack College women's lacrosse came up short against the Marist University Red Foxes by a score of 12-6 on Wednesday afternoon.

Lindsay Atkinson opened the scoring for the Warriors four minutes into the first quarter of play. Marist would capitalize off a Warriors turnover to even the playing field. Marist would add their second off a ground ball, however, a Warriors ground ball pickup would allow
Brooke Brennan to establish control to net one for the Warriors. Both teams then traded scores again as Catherine Windsor netted one for the Red Foxes. Within a minute
Allison Lamphere slotted one through the cage off a pass from Atkinson. Marist would add one more to take a 4-3 lead after one. The second quarter was a low scoring defensive battle between both sides. Marist was the first to break the score drought, scoring after five minutes of back-and-forth action.
Lindsay Atkinson answered right back, converting on a free position attempt to keep the Warriors within striking distance.
The Red Foxes started the second half strong, burying two-back-to-back goals however,
Hailey Schnider scored on her first free position of the afternoon to cut the deficit to two. Marist would continue to put pressure on the Warriors defense and would score three more times to double the lead, 10-5.
Lindsay Atkinson looked to get momentum for the Warriors, scoring early in the fourth to complete her hat-trick. Merrimack would then secure four ground balls and register a shot on net however, could not find a way past the Red Fox defense. Marist would score twice more to win the game 12-6.
