Hubbard and Samuel Hit Milestones In Softball Losses to Marist

Poughkeepsie, NY.-- Merrimack Softball dropped both games in their doubleheader with the Marist Red Foxes by two scores of 4-3 this afternoon, on a day where Sydney Samuel played in her 100th game with the Warriors and Ellen Hubbard had her 200th hit.

Game 1: Marist would score the opening run of the ball in the first on a groundout that would be the only scoring for awhile as the Red Foxes would extend their lead in the fifth as they pushed across three runs.
Merrimack would fight to the finish however as Sydney Samuel, playing in her 100th game this afternoon ripped a two out double to left field, scoring Madi Gibeault and Alex Miller. Samuel would score herself on a double from Ellen Hubbard, but Hubbard would be left stranded as the game came to a close one batter later.

Game 2: Marist again would come out of the blocks strong scoring the opening two runs in the first inning, but the Warriors would get the game back to level terms in the third with an RBI single from Thiana Brito and a Gabby Kaduson groundout RBI.
In the fifth, Marist would go back ahead with a line drive home run over the right centerfield fence. However, the Warriors would tie the game back up in the top half of the next inning as Merrimack loaded the bases with hits from Madeline Arvai and Caity Lemay as well as a Sofia Palyan walk. Madison Metcalf would get the RBI after a hard fought at bat on a base loaded walk, but the Warriors were unable to put the crooked number on the board as the bases were left loaded.
In the seventh, Marist would attempt to walk the game off, but Alex Miller would make the final of the inning at the track to send the game to extras.
In the eighth, the Warriors would be unable to score, and the Red Foxes would score a sacrifice fly to win and sweep the doubleheader.
