How it Happened
  • The series began with a boom as Jack Andrews led off game one with a towering solo homer. He then added to it by homering again in third inning to give Merrimack a 3-0 lead. Saint Peter's got on the board in the fourth but two more Warrior runs came across in their half of the inning. The sixth inning was all Merrimack as the home team struck for seven runs including a grand slam from Brooks Craigue to give the Warriors a commanding 12-1 lead. Merrimack added three more runs in the bottom of the eighth and would go on to take game one by a score of 15-4.
  • Game two of the series was played on Friday as well as part of a doubleheader. Flynn Howard started on the mound for Merrimack as he went five innings pitched giving up three earned and struck out three. Early on the Warriors bats were cold going for just two runs but they were awoken in the sixth. It started with a Brooks Craigue homer followed by a two RBI double from Jayden Hamilton to give Merrimack a 5-3 lead. A two-run bomb in the seventh from Frankie Ferrentino increased the Warriors lead and then a three-run shot from Harry Painter put it out of reach. Merrimack went on to sweep the Friday doubleheader and won game two, 11-3.
  • Merrimack was aiming for a series sweep of the Peacocks on Sunday. Game three was far different from the rest as it was close throughout. The Warriors scored the first two runs of the game coming off of a Harry Painter double in the first inning. However, Saint Peter's would go on to score the next seven runs through the sixth inning to go up 7-2. Merrimack was far from finished as they added two runs in the eighth inning and made it interesting in the ninth. A Brooks Craigue double scored Cavan Brady and a Frankie Ferrentino sacrifice fly brought Craigue across soon after. However, that was all the hits left in the Warriors bats as the potential comeback attempt was halted in the ninth, narrowly losing game three 7-6.
