Women's Soccer Pick Up First Win of the Season Against UMass Lowell

North Andover, Ma.-   The Merrimack College Warriors women's soccer team picked up their first victory of the 2025 season with a come from behind 2-1 win over the UMass Lowell Riverhawks on a warm, sunny day at Martone-Mejail Field.

  • Lowell took the lead just past the fifteen minute mark of the first half, but the Warriors wouldn't be behind for long as Ava Lovergine's cross found the head of Bella Keogh, who knocked the ball across the line for an equalizer to send the game all square into the half.
  • In the second half, both teams refused to let up as the back and forth action continued as the sun kept beating down on the pitch, Merrimack however would get the break they needed as Kyra Whitman picked out Kellianne Caldwell who scored a wonder goal going one on three against the defenders to put the Warriors into the lead in the final 15 minutes of the match. From there, the Warriors would control play for the remainder of the game to capture the win.
     
     
    Notes and Numbers:
  • Bella Keogh's goal was her first of the season.
  • Kellianne Caldwell's goal was her first as a Warrior.
  • Ava Lovergine and Kyra Whitman had an assist each.
  • Kaitlyn Brewi made four saves, giving her an even 20 saves in her first two games.
UP NEXT: The Warriors hit the road for the first time this season as the head to Hanover to face the Dartmouth Big Green on August 22nd at 5:00 PM.
