How It Happened

Kicking off the first set against the Wildcats, the Warriors found themselves trailing. A kill and block assist from Morgan Thurlow kept the lead to four but the Wildcats continued their assault. A few different Warriors contributed kills, and a couple Wildcat errors brought the lead back down to four. In an attempt to take the lead, Mckenna Shotwell tallied a kill and an assist, but the back a forth battle came to end with the Wildcats taking the first set 25-18.

Looking to change the tide of the match, Merrimack kept it close heading into the second set. Sophia DeBonis carried the offense for three assists in the early stages. New Hampshire fought back extending their lead, but the Warriors quickly put an end to that. Two straight kills from Ella Gizmunt put the Warriors within two halfway through the set. Following that, Aubrey Baker fired three straight kills to keep the Wildcat lead at a minimum. A four-point run bolstered the Wildcat lead to seven as they went on to take the second set.

In the face of defeat, the Warriors started the third set strong. Taking advantage of Wildcat errors, the Warriors found themselves right in it. Friar Classic All Star, Lilly Konrad took control assisting three different Warriors to kills. With the match close, the Wildcats fired back, going on a 6-1 run. Three straight services aces from Thurlow wasn't enough as the Wildcats completed their sweep 25-20.
