Merrimack College Names Scott Netkovick Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development

North Andover, Mass. — Merrimack College announced today the appointment of Scott Netkovick as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development, effective immediately. In this role, Netkovick will lead all athletics development and external engagement strategies, including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and donor stewardship in support of Warrior Athletics' competitive and academic excellence.

Netkovick joins Merrimack from the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he served as Deputy Athletic Director for Strategic Advancement. At UMass Boston, he provided executive leadership across athletic development, revenue generation, sport performance, and communications, designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy and portfolio management system aligned with institutional goals. Under his guidance, the department achieved significant growth, including a 162% increase in overall donor count and an 85% increase in dollars raised from FY23 to FY25. He also launched the Beacons Day of Giving, which attracted over 1,000 unique donors in its inaugural year and posted triple-digit gains year over year.

Prior to UMass Boston, Netkovick held two roles at the University of South Carolina Upstate: Associate Athletic Director for Development & Major Gifts Officer and Annual Giving Officer. He led strategic plans spanning major gifts, digital campaigns, direct mail, and crowdfunding, helping the department reach five-year highs in donors and dollars. He also reorganized and scaled the departments flagship fundraising events, more than doubling net proceeds. Earlier in his career, he served at his Alma Mater, Elms College, as Head Baseball Coach and Intramural Coordinator, where he managed all facets of an NCAA Division III program. Netkovick currently stands as the all time win leader in Elms College Baseball history.

"Scott is an exceptional builder of relationships and results," said Joe Foley, Director of Athletics. "His track record growing donor participation, energizing annual giving, and aligning development with departmental priorities will accelerate momentum for our student-athletes and programs."

Netkovick added, "I'm truly honored to join Merrimack Athletics at such an exciting time. Building strong relationships with our donors and community is the foundation of sustained success, and I look forward to working closely with our alumni, partners, coaches, and student-athletes to grow support that drives both competitive excellence and academic achievement. I am also grateful to Joe Foley, Director of Athletics, for entrusting me with this opportunity to help elevate Merrimack Athletics."

In his new role at Merrimack, Netkovick will develop and execute a multi-year athletics development plan encompassing major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, and signature events.  He will build and manage a metrics-driven donor portfolio in collaboration with campus advancement partners and head coaches while enhancing stewardship and communication strategies that deepen lifelong engagement with Warrior Athletics.  Further, Netkovick will be charged with advancing strategic initiatives that strengthen the identity, brand, and community impact of Merrimack Athletics.
