NORTH ANDOVER, M.A. - The Merrimack College men's basketball team defeated Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers this Friday by a score of 75-65. Kevair Kennedy and Ernest Shelton led the way with over 20 points each.
Coach Joe Gallo said "these guys just stayed with it. A lot of guys made big plays with the clock late. I thought we were very active defensively."
Kennedy scored a career high 24 points on the night shooting 50% from the field. Kevair hit 11 free throws and came down with three rebounds. Kennedy has now scored double figures in 14 of his 15 games this season.
Shelton excelled from the free throw line making all 11 of his opportunities. His 22 point effort was capped off by three 3-pointers. Shelton had four rebounds and played all 40 minutes of the game. Shelton has now scored over 15 points in three of his last four games.
The Warrior forwards impressed with Todd Brogna scoring seven, KC Ugwuakazi with six, and Dylan Veillette adding five points. The three combined for a total of eight blocks.
The Warriors stay in North Andover as they host Manhattan this Sunday at Lawler Arena. Tip off against the Jaspers is set for 12:00 p.m.
