Doucette Notches 33 Saves in Shutout Win at Maine

Orono, ME— Reigning Hockey East Goaltender of the Week Adreanna Doucette made 33 saves for her second career shutout and first at Merrimack and Solveig Gisler broke the scoreless tie in the second period as the Merrimack Women's Hockey team kicked off the weekend with a 2-0 win over the Maine Black Bears on Friday night and the Alfond Arena.

After a scoreless first 37 minutes, Merrimack would get on the board after a sustained offensive zone chance found the stick of the captain Solveig Gisler who shot the puck home for her first goal of the season. Madison Vittands and McKenzie Cerrato collected the assists. The Warriors kept the lead into the intermission as Doucette made an incredible paddle save in the last minute.

Doucette kept the Warriors ahead with 16 saves in the final 20 minutes and with the net empty, Stina Sandberg would win the puck and ice the game with her fourth goal of the year.

Merrimack have won their last five games in Orono.

The Warriors look to keep it going against Maine with a game tomorrow afternoon at 5 PM.
