Men's Hockey Sweeps Northeastern

North Andover, MA — The Merrimack Men's Hockey team completed the weekend sweep as they defeated the Northeastern Huskies 3-1 on Friday night at Lawler Arena.

After falling behind in the first period, Merrimack would successfully kill a penalty and Justin Gill would get the game back on level terms with his eighth goal of the season at the seven-minute mark with Austin Oravetz and Caelan Fitzpatrick notching assists.

Exactly five minutes after that, the Warriors would take the lead for good as Parker Lalonde knocked home his eighth of the year. Oravetz would collect his second point and Seamus Powell earned  the secondary assist.

Northeastern pushed to tie the score, but in the final minute would lose their man advantage after taking a penalty which would also allow Merrimack to shoot at will towards the open net, an opportunity that would be taken by Michael Emerson with assists to Lalonde and Fitzpatrick.

Max Lundgren won his 12th game, making 30 saves.

Merrimack swept Northeastern for the first time since March 6th-7th, 2015, in the opening round of the Hockey East playoffs.
