Women's Basketball Locks Down Siena En Route To Fourth-Straight Win

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. -- The Merrimack women's basketball team turned defense into offense in the first quarter and quickly put the game out of reach en route to a 79-60 victory against Siena at Lawler Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors hit 56 percent of the 3-pointers (5-for-9) and shot 53 percent from the field in the opening frame, taking a 29-10 lead into the second quarter.

Lydia Melaschenko scored 22 points (4-for-7 from long range) with six rebounds and two assists. Madison Roman scored 12 points and 11 rebounds and earned her 15th double-double of the season.

Se'Lah Reddick scored 14 points after she shot 50 percent (7-for-14) from the field. She also chipped in six rebounds and a season-high five assists. Paloma Garcia scored 12 points and had four steals while Oralye Kiefer scored nine points and tallied five blocks for the third time this season. 

The Warriors travel to Sacred Heart on Thursday with tip off from the Pitt Center at 7 p.m.
