BROOKLYN, NY -- The Merrimack College men's volleyball overcame a two-set deficit en route to a thrilling 3-2 victory over LIU on Saturday night.
The Warriors claimed the 22-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23, 16-14 win.
It marked the first time in team history the Warriors went on the road and earned a reverse-sweep victory.
"Whoever is on the court, we want to compete everywhere," Merrimack head Coach Hayden West-Mather said. "It doesn't matter the score, it doesn't matter the gym, we want to compete with everyone. These guys showed immense resilience and now we need to build towards a competitive match against Penn State."
Max Tkachev recorded a season-high 21 kills and 10 digs for his first double-double this season. Dallas Birkenbeuel also added on a double-double (16 kills, 11 digs) with a season-high six service aces. Nick Tidik recorded career-highs in kills (15) and block assists (seven). Blake Taschner (career-high 46 assists, seven digs and three block assists) and Kyle Standage (team-high 15 digs) also contributed in the win.
As a team, the Warriors totaled a season-high 11 blocks.
