NORTH ANDOVER, MA-- Merrimack enters the postseason tomorrow as the 10th seed in the Hockey East Playoffs, but have gone unbeaten in three of their last five games in the month of February. The Warriors also have history on their side as they have never lost a Hockey East Opening Round game since their first appearance in 2021-22. (DNP, 2021 COVID)
Goaltender
Adreanna Doucette is the expected starter for the Warriors tonight. The sophomore transfer has been outstanding this season, posting a 2.49 GAA and .928 SV and one shutout over the year, along with receiving conference honors for goalie or defender of the week twice. Doucette has made 11 appearance this season making 30 saves or more and five with 40 or more. Doucette went 1-2-0 against Maine this season making 104 saves on 109 shots which is good enough for a 1.70 GAA and a .954 SV.
Sophomore forward
Mady Cipolla had a great regular season finale effort scoring the opening goal and tying goal in Merrimack's 5-3 loss to UConn on Saturday. Cipolla joins
Madison Vittands as the only two players this season to have a two goal game and they've both happened this month.
As mentioned earlier, Merrimack is a perfect 4-0 in the Opening Round of the Hockey East Playoffs since the format was created. Warriors have beaten UNH (4-1 2022, 3-1, 2025) Boston University (5-4 OT, 2023) and Maine (2-1 OT, 2024).
Impressively, the Warriors have won every playoff game here/in their history as the road team. In the 2-1 overtime win over Maine in 2023-24, former Black Bear Celine Tedenby opened the scoring, and Merrimack's all time games played leader
Allison Reeb snuck home her rebound shot off the boards in overtime.Â
