Towson, MD-- Merrimack Softball split the beginning of their play in the Towson Tournament but tallied ten runs in their game one victory over the Morgan State Bears on Saturday afternoon.
Merrimack tied the score in the fourth after a
Caity Lemay RBI single, scoring
Madeline Arvai.
Anna Mitrou put the Warriors ahead in the fifth with a solo home run and would add another in the sixth with an RBI double, following an RBI double from
Emma Prahin. The Warriors would keep on rolling with a Arvai two RBI single and the rout would be completed in a big way as
Caity Lemay socked a grand slam, for her fifth RBI of the contest.
Anna Gedacht picked up win number with six strong innings, allowing one and striking out five.
This is the first time softball has scored more than ten runs in a game since April 6 vs Stonehill.
In game two,
Anna Mitrou and
Alex Miller both scored runs on an error and ground out respectively and
Abby Choquette and
Sam Ryan both a double each, but the Warrior were unable to overturn the early Towson lead, falling 4-2.
The Warriors finish play in the tournament tomorrow at 10 AM and 12:30 against the Cornell University Big Red.
