NORTH ANDOVER, MA— The Merrimack Women's Hockey Team celebrated their senior day in style as they defeated the Providence College Friars by a score of 3-2 on a snowy Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
After gaining a 5 on 3 opportunity late in the first period, the Warriors would cash in as
Olivia Grabianowski would pot the rebound to take the lead into the first intermission.
Providence would score the lone goal of the second to send the game tied into the final 20 minutes, but the Warriors would only need nine seconds to retake the lead as
Madison Vittands would take advantage of a turnover, scoring her first collegiate goal in the process with Grabianowski notching her second point of the evening.
With the time winding down,
Adreanna Doucette would make 22 saves in the third period to go along with 39 in total on the evening and with the Friars net empty,
Neely Hawn would knock the puck loose and
Emma Pfeffer would win the race to the puck before dishing it to
Stina Sandberg who would score the empty netter to capture the win.
After the game, the Warriors would pay tribute to their five seniors and grads, #9
