NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Freshman
Strahinja Djukic was named the MAAC Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week after helping lead Merrimack victory over Niagara on Sunday.
Djukic, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, picked up wins at both No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles in the 6-1 win at Niagara. Djukic won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and teamed with
Tom Van Nooten to win 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
"We are extremely proud of the work and effort Strahinja has put in during his first year," Merrimack head coach Cory Erikson said. "His growth as a player over this short time has been very impressive."
The Warriors return to action on Saturday at Tufts.
