Kennedy, Men's Basketball Dominates Sacred Heart In MAAC Quarterfinals

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ  -- The top-seeded Merrimack College men's basketball team ran away from No. 9 Sacred Heart en route to a 70-48 victory at Boardwalk Hall on Friday night.

Kevair Kennedy, the MAAC Player of the Year, scored 24 points (10-for-22 from the field) and added eight rebounds and six assists.

Fellow First Team All-MAAC honoree Ernest Shelton stuffed the stat sheet, as well. The junior guard finished with 18 points on four-made 3-pointers all while he added a season-high nine rebounds, just one away from his double-double at Merrimack.

Tye Dorset chipped in 10 points and five assists while he led the team in steals (three) with one block. Todd Brogna complemented the effort with eight points, five rebounds, two assists and a team-best two blocks.

The Warriors forced 15 Sacred Heart turnovers while they only committed four. It marked the third time this season that Merrimack held a team under 50 points.

The Warriors will return to Boardwalk Hall on Sunday at 6 p.m. where they will face the winner No. 4 Quinnipiac and No. 5 Marist.
