Centerville, NY. – Merrimack Baseball won the rubber match of their conference opening series against the Niagara Purple Eagles, taking a 6-4 win on Sunday afternoon.
Merrimack got on the board first with two RBI singles from
Jack Andrews and
Chris Goode. Niagara would score three in the third to take the lead but it wouldn't hold for long as
Christian Scanlon batted home two more with a single in the fifth. The Warriors would then add insurance in the sixth thanks to their discipline at the plate, drawing two bases loaded walks.
On the mound,
James Nichols would get the start, going five innings, striking out four before giving way to
Bobby Loper who allowed two hits in three scoreless innings before
Cole Yennaco would notch his second save in as many days to get Merrimack the series win.

The Warriors have a day off before heading to West Point to face the Army Black Knights on Tuesday and Wednesday.
