Shippensburg, Pa.– Merrimack Softball began their first games of MAAC conference play against the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers on a doubleheader Sunday in Shippensburg following a weather relocation.
The Warriors scored their lone runs of game one after a ringing double from
Caity Lemay scored
Madeline Arvai and Jamie Caulkins in the first inning.
The Warriors had seven hits in total as
Abby Choquette doubled,
Madeline Arvai singled and
Alex Miller went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate, all singles.
In the circle,
Anna Gedacht pitched all six innings, striking out three and allowing one.
In game two, the only runs of the game would come on a Mount home run.
Despite the early runs allowed,
MacKenzie Paulin still achieved a quality start for the Warriors', pitching all six innings, allowing two hits and striking out three.
The two Merrimack hits came from
Madeline Arvai and
Abby Choquette.

The Warriors will host their home opener with a doubleheader against the University of Maine Black Bears at 12 and 2 PM on Wednesday, March 11.
