Warrior Pitching Shuts Down Rams In Win

KINGSTON, RI - Nine Warrior pitchers touched the mound as Merrimack defeated the Rhode Island Rams 5-2.

The Rams had won eight of their last nine games prior to facing the Warriors this afternoon.

The Warriors struck early in the game, getting an RBI single from Joey Frammartino in the first inning.

Jack Andrews tacked on another run the very next inning with a deep home run to left field. It was the designated hitter's first long ball of the season.

The Warriors increased their lead in the fifth inning where Matt DeShiro roped an RBI double and Brooks Craigue hit a sacrifice fly.

DeShiro increased his hit streak to six games, and on-base streak to 22.

Freshman Nick Koch tallied two hits and knocked in a run during the sixth inning. Koch's RBI was the first of his collegiate career.

Michael Bradshaw earned the win in the Warrior bullpen game.

Zach Broderick struck out three batters and Owen Zadrozny fanned two.

Campbell Cassidy and James Nichols both pitched one, two, three innings in their appearances.

The Warriors head back into MAAC play this weekend with a three game slate against Sacred Heart. Two games will be played on Friday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., while Saturday will feature a game 1 p.m.
