NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - Merrimack College women's basketball head coach Missy Traversi has named four assistant coaches and one graduate assistant to her coaching staff entering the 2026-27 season.
Traversi has added Glenn Rigney, Brie Wajer, Claire Gritt and Zyon Bell as assistant coaches with Alex Giannaros named a graduate assistant.
"It is with great excitement to announce these new additions to our staff," Traversi said. "Our staff mirrors the community's tight-knit culture here at Merrimack College. I've been fortunate to work with three of the four hires throughout my coaching career, which makes this a seamless transition. I look forward to their impact and leadership as we begin this uncommon journey. We are already a connected staff with high hopes for the 2026-27 season."
Rigney, who will help as defensive coordinator and director of recruiting, spent two decades at Lehigh University and was on Traversi's staff at Army during the 2025 season. He helped the Mountain Hawks claim three Patriot League titles during his tenure.
Wajer, who will take over as the recruiting coordinator and player development assistant, joins the staff after coaching three years at Eastern Kentucky where she helped the program claim the Atlantic Sun regular-season championship during the 2025-26 season. Wajer spent the 2024-25 season at Army after one season at Villanova.
Gritt arrives at Merrimack after coaching one season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha and previously working with Traversi at Army. She will take over as the director of basketball operations and aid in creative content.
Bell, who will serve as the video coordinator for the Warriors, arrives at Merrimack after he spent six seasons at Seton Hall learning under legendary head coach Tony Bozzella.
Giannaros arrives at Merrimack after an impressive playing career at Boston University. She earned All-Patriot League honors in all four seasons, becoming just the fourth player in program history to do so. A three-point specialist, Giannaros led all of NCAA Division I women's basketball in three-point percentage during the 2022-23 season before she concluded second in program history and third in Patriot League history with a .415 three-point percentage. She scored 1,369 career points for the Terriers.
