ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Metro Conference on Wednesday announced its Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll and Preseason All-Metro Teams
The new-look Merrimack Warriors were predicted to finish ninth in the preseason vote. The reigning conference champion Fairfield Stangs were predicted to finish vote in a unanimous vote.
The Warriors enter the 2026-27 season with first-year head coach Missy Traversi and 12 newcomers, including representatives from seven different countries. Merrimack's two returners, Joi Williams and Kristen Kelly, are the only two players who have spent time in the Metro Conference.
The Warriors begin their regular season when they travel to Florida State on Nov. 2. Merrimack begins conference play in mid-December with the Siena Saints serving as the Warriors' first in-conference opponent.
