STORRS, CT — The Merrimack College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday to wrap up their non-conference schedule.
In the first match, the Warriors fell to the host of the invitational, the UConn Huskies 1-3 (12-25,15-25, 25-22, 22-25).
In the match it was the pairing of freshman outside hitter Tami Afolafu and junior outside hitter Mckenna Shotwell who paced the way for the Warriors on the offensive end with 11 kills a piece. Sophomore opposite hitter Jocelyn Hammerstrand also pitched in 7 kills of her own.
In match number two on the day, it was the Warriors who fell to Coppin State in straight sets by scores of 20-25, 26-28, 11-25.
Mckenna Shotwell continued her impressive day adding in 12 kills of her own in that match. Afolafu and Hammerstrand contributed 6 kills a piece.
The Warriors now begin their preparation for their conference opener on the road this coming Friday when they head to the city to square off with Manhattan University.
