HAMDEN, Conn. -- The Merrimack College men's tennis team is set to travel to the 2026 Metro Masters Tournament at Quinnipiac University this weekend.
The tournament is set to kick off Friday morning with a chance to compete against the conference's best in hopes of earning a qualifying bid to the 2026 ITA Conference Masters Championship in November.
The tournament won't showcase the whole team, but each school will travel with its two best singles and doubles players to showcase their talents. The Warriors will be represented by Bjorn Hedegaard-Friis and Tarik Zubovic at singles with the doubles teams including Bjorn Hedegaard-Friis and Arjun Bhatia as well as Tarik Zubovic and Juan Carlos Portilla Morales.
"The guys are very excited to head down to the Metro Masters this weekend," head coach Cory Erikson said. "It's a great opportunity to go up against the best competition in the conference. This tournament provides our top players with invaluable experience as well as an opportunity to scout conference opponents for when we compete in the fall."Â
The 2026 Metro Masters Tournament will determine the men's and women's tennis singles and doubles representatives at the 2026 ITA Conference Masters Championship. The winning individuals and pairs will earn an automatic bid to the 2026 ITA Conference Masters Championship, which will take place November 5–8.
