Claire Gritt joined Merrimack Women's Basketball in April 2026 after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Prior to Omaha, she spent the 2024-25 season at Army West Point alongside Head Coach Missy Traversi where she helped support a very successful season. She started her college coaching career at Utah State University, where she was for 3 years, serving as an Assistant Coach and Director of Basketball Operations.
At Merrimack, Gritt oversees the program's day-to-day operations, team travel, creative content, clinic operations, player development support, and student-athlete experience. Her background in basketball operations, organization, and program management has made her an integral part of building the foundation and culture of the Warrior program.
Known for her attention to detail, relationship-building, and commitment to student-athlete development, Gritt brings experience from multiple Division I programs and a passion for helping teams succeed both on and off the court.

Playing Experience – 2017-2021
Claire Gritt was a four-year starter at University of Denver, appearing in 114 career games with 96 starts -the fifth-most starts in program history. A 1,000-point scorer, she finished her career with 1,068 points, 249 rebounds, 243 assists, and 121 steals while ranking among Denver's all-time leaders in three-pointers made (132), free throws made (258), and free throw percentage (.766). As a freshman, Gritt earned Summit League Freshman of the Year honors, was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team, received Summit League Honorable Mention recognition, and was selected to the Roo Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team. Throughout her career, she was known for her toughness, leadership, and versatility. Consistently impacting the game as a scorer, playmaker, and defender while helping lead the Pioneers during her four seasons in the Summit League.
