Freshman Drew Lovely (North Reading, Mass.) of the Merrimack College men's soccer team has been named the first Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week for the 2017-18 season after a terrific start to his collegiate career. 

Lovely earned Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors after he scored his first-career goal against Caldwell on Friday night. The freshman back scored on a scrum in front of the net following a free kick in the 40^thminute of the game to add to a 1-0 Merrimack lead. He then started against Molloy on Sunday at the center back position, playing in the entire contest. His contributions aided the No. 25 Warriors to a 2-0 weekend to begin the season.

Lovely and the rest of the Warriors heads to Bridgeport, Conn. to take on No. 9 LIU Post in the Purple Knight Classic on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
