After a tremendous performance between the pipes as part of a two-game playoff series sweep, junior goaltender Craig Pantano has been named Fuddruckers Male Athlete of the Week for the first time .
Pantano stopped 62 of the 65 shots he saw all weekend against UMass Lowell, posting a .954 save percentage on the weekend. He also allowed just three goals in over 150 minutes of work, good for a 1.18 goals against average. That effort propelled the Warriors to their first-ever series sweep of the rival River Hawks, and in dramatic fashion; both games needed overtime to decide a victor, as Pantano's efforts were key in pushing the Warriors to the quarterfinal round of the league tournament. He also earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the series.
On the year, Pantano has started 25 games and owns an 11-12-2 record with a 2.32 goals against average and a .918 save percentage, ranking fourth in the league in both categories.
Pantano and the rest of the Warriors now gear up for their best-of-three quarterfinal series at No. 18 Boston College beginning Friday night at 7 p.m.
