NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's ice hockey team resumes its non-conference schedule with a trip out to Minnesota, where the Warriors will meet WCHA member Bemidji State for a two-game set at the Sanford Center starting Friday night at 8 p.m. EST.
Five Things To Know
- Merrimack split its first series of November, a home-and-home set with Boston College. The Warriors beat the Eagles at home for the first time since February 2013 before falling in the series finale on Saturday night at Kelley Rink.
- Merrimack leads the nation in one-goal games played, having done so six times. The next-closest team to have played as many one-goal affairs is New Hampshire (5).
- Merrimack's top-four scorers are all juniors, headlined by Logan Coomes and Tyler Irvine who share the team lead with six points. Coomes does so with a goal and a team-high five assists, while Irvine has scored twice and assisted four times. After not lighting the lamp in his first two seasons as a Warrior, junior Patrick Kramer is the team's lead goal-scorer with three tallies. Three other Warriors -- senior Derek Petti, Irvine and sophomore Laine McKay -- are behind him with two tallies.
- Senior Craig Pantano has started eight of the team's nine games; he owns a 3-5-0 record in those starts with a .910 save percentage and 2.56 goals against average.
- Merrimack is meeting Bemidji State for the first time since 2007. The Warriors made the trek out to Minnesota in October of that season and came away with a two-game sweep over the Beavers, with both games being decided by a goal.
