MIDDLETON, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's tennis program suffered a 6-3 defeat to regionally ranked University of District Columbia on Saturday evening from the Northeast Tennis Center in Middleton, Mass. The Firebirds were ranked ninth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Region poll and reached the NCAA Tournament last season.

- Playing down a man, the Warriors conceded points at third doubles and sixth singles entering the day. Both doubles matches went to tiebreakers, with the Firebirds winnings at No. 1, 9-8. Senior Frank Vega and junior Alex Fedorov triumphed at second doubles, 9-8, to get Merrimack one doubles point
- In the singles venue, sophomore Denis Davydov posted a straight-sets victory, including a shutout in the second frame (6-4, 6-0). Fedorov completed a perfect day with a two-set win of his own at fourth singles (7-6, 6-4)
- UDC claimed two-set tilts at first and third singles to clinch the match. Junior Tyler Clontz brought fifth singles to three sets, but suffered a loss in the deciding frame
