MIDDLETON, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's tennis program went toe-to-toe with New York Institute of Technology on Saturday evening – the third-ranked program in the region according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings – and suffered a 7-2 defeat from the Northeast Tennis Center. The Warriors nearly carried a 2-1 lead into singles play, before suffering a pair of three-set defeats in singles.

- Merrimack's top pairing of senior Mikhail Belov and sophomore Denis Davydov doubled up the Bears' No. 1 option, 8-4, to secure one doubles point for the Warriors
- Facing a 1-1 match, the third doubles duo of junior Tyler Clontz and sophomore Paul Weidinger took their contest to a 16th game, but dropped a 9-7 margin, allowing NYIT to take a 2-1 lead into singles
- Junior Alex Fedorov rallied to recover from a first-set defeat, winning at fourth singles in three frames (3-6, 7-5, 7-6). Merrimack also saw second and third singles reach three frames, but NYIT won at both flights. The visitors won two-set decisions at first, fifth and sixth singles
