How It Happened
- It was Merrimack scoring first on the strength of Gresock's team-leading seventh goal of the season, ripping one through traffic after senior Derek Petti won a faceoff with nearly nine minutes gone in the first. But BU would get the equalizer off a power play with just over five minutes left, and then scored off a wild scrum in the final minute of the frame to take a 2-1 lead heading to the intermission.
- Midway through the second, Merrimack had an opportunity to draw even but instead yielded a shorthanded strike to extend the Terriers' lead to 3-1. Moments later, the Warriors had another golden chance to take the lead during a frenzy in front of the BU net but could not convert; the hosts added another at the 13:17 mark but Drevitch would respond 20 seconds later, potting his fourth of the year on a pretty breakaway sequence off a feed from junior Johnathan Kovacevic to make it a two-goal game. The Warriors would get another power play opportunity shortly thereafter but came up empty again, keeping the score 4-2 BU after 40 minutes.
- BU came out firing in the third, recording two more power play goals before adding another at even strength to account for the final margin of victory. A number of penalties at the 12:30 mark would give the Warriors a brief 5-on-3 advantage, but the hosts finished 5-for-5 on the penalty kill to close out the night.
